If you don't know what USENET is, read this page. NewsBin ║ ║ Pro's greatest asset is its speed. NewsBin Pro has been highly optimized ║ ║ to take advantage of all available bandwidth. This is done by spawning ║ ║ multiple tasks, or threads, to download different files simultaneously. ║ ║ The number of threads running can be changed on the fly from 1 to 6. ║ ║ We've found that 2 threads are all you need for most dial up connections. ║ ║ More threads should be used in higher speed connections. For 128K ISDN, ║ ║ 4 threads works best. For cable modems, xDSL, and T1's, all 6 th reads ║ ║ will take advantage of all your available bandwidth. All this means is ║ ║ that you can download more binaries in less time than with any other ║ ║ method we know of. ║ ║ ║ ║ NewsBin Pro has two modes, Automatic and Manual. Automatic mode blindly ║ ║ downloads every binary attachment it can find from the news groups that ║ ║ you selected. In Manual mode, only the headers (or subject fields) of ║ ║ news articles are downloaded and displayed. You can then scan through the ║ ║ headers and choose only the binaries that you want to download. ║ ║ ║ ║ NewsBin Pro has many different types of filters to help you narrow down ║ ║ the types of binaries you want to download. You can filter on size, ║ ║ resolution (pictures only), and subject. You can filter out possible spam ║ ║ (cross posted to multiple groups) or specific posters. ║ ║ ║ ║ When downloading pictures, NewsBin Pro displays a thumbnail of the picture ║ ║ while it is being downloaded. After the picture is downloaded, you can ║ ║ view the picture by going to the "Downloaded Files" tab and double ║ ║ clicking on the file you want to view. This launches the program that ║ ║ you have associated with that specific file type. ║ ║ ║ ║ NewsBin Pro allows you to specify multiple news servers and will cycle ║ ║ through all the servers you have selected when in Auto Mode.
